CDBB Year One Report: Towards a digital built Britain

CDBB is pleased to present its Year One Report, featuring our work towards a digital built Britain. The report provides an overview of how CDBB aims to champion the digital revolution in the built environment by developing a shared vision of the future and supporting the consistent adoption and promotion of effective information management and digital transformation across infrastructure.

The report highlights our work across three coordinated programmes in partnership with the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy: working with Government to develop the right evidence-based policy framework to encourage knowledge sharing and consistent procurement; growing an active UK research community to develop new technologies and ideas and promoting collaboration across disciplines and across universities; and working with industry bodies and individual firms to test those new ideas and help put the best of them into action by demonstrating their value, sharing good practice, supporting organisational change, developing common standards and certification, and providing education and training.

The funding recently announced for the Transforming Construction Alliance to deliver the Core Innovation Hub allows CDBB to continue the delivery of ambitious recommendations set out by the National Infrastructure Commission for a framework, pilot projects and set of principles to guide the development of digital twins for built assets and infrastructure to ensure that we design, build, operate and integrate the built environment for the benefit of all citizens. We close the report by looking towards the future of the digital built Britain programme.
