Head of Research Programme Management (Fixed Term)

The University has received funding of £30M from InnovateUK as part of the £72M Core Innovation Hub partnership with BRE and MTC. The Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) at the University of Cambridge will focus on the ongoing transformation of the built environment through the digital tools, standards and processes that are collectively known as Building Information Modelling (BIM). The Centre is a key element in the Digital Built Britain programme which has the ambition of delivering a step-change in construction productivity, creating approximately £2.9 billion of net discounted savings for the Exchequer through the delivery of high performing assets in infrastructure and buildings, and driving exports for UK firms.

The long-term vision for the Centre is to develop and demonstrate policy and practical insights that will enable the exploitation of new and emerging technologies, data and analytics to enhance the natural and built environment, thereby driving up commercial competitiveness and productivity, as well as citizen quality of life and well-being.

The CDBB Head of Research Programme Management takes the lead, on behalf of the Deputy Director, to ensure that the Centre's Research Programme is properly resourced, planned and administered. The role-holder will be responsible for all non-academic aspects of CDBB's Research stream, including line management of CDBB's Researchers. The role also provides strategic oversight and leadership of the Centre's research programme team to ensure the Centre meets its research programme objectives and deliverables, and to embed Centre research outputs in Government policy.

The overall purpose of the role is to provide leadership, oversight, non-academic management and co-ordination of the Centre's Research Programme.

The successful candidate will be educated to first degree level in a relevant discipline. S/he will have administrative or project management experience ideally in a research related role and have knowledge of the UK HE research and funding landscape. Experience of work on a complex or large-scale projects and multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary research programme is essential.

Funding for this post is available to the 30 September 2022 in the first instance.
