Centre for Digital Built Britain



Amelia Burnett is a communications and engagement specialist, originally from Auckland, New Zealand. Before joining CDBB, Amelia project managed the University’s involvement with the UK Collaboratorium for Research in Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC), including developing the research agenda, funding and engagement strategies for the national research facility being built at Cambridge to deliver the network’s infrastructure sensing workstream. Prior to joining the University of Cambridge, Amelia was Marketing Communications Manager for Air New Zealand. There she led the firm’s Marketing Communications and Events team to deliver an extensive programme of internal and external events and engagement activities including joint activity with Warner Bros, the All Blacks and the San Francisco Giants. Before working in industry, Amelia was a member of the Communications and Public Affairs team at Auckland Transport, where she devised and implemented the Council Controlled Organisation’s social media strategy and channels, and public event strategy. While working in local government she developed a strong interest in public engagement and crisis communications, which led to roles in the Major Events Operation Centre for the 2012 Rugby World Cup, and Civil Defence Public Information team following the Canterbury Earthquake Sequence. Amelia is responsible for leading the engagement workstream for the Centre for Digital Built Britain.
