Julie is the Research Programme Manager for the Centre for Digital Built Britain. Julie started her career as an Engineer in 2006 managing facilities projects in the Built Environment. During the same period, she taught technical subjects at the Computer Engineering and Mathematics Department of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, being a member of the CRISES research group within the UNESCO Chair for Data Privacy. She also delivered seminars about domestic solar thermal energy to Engineers and Architects at their official professional associations.

Her curiosity to experiment the practical side of the theory, brought her to accept the challenge of coordinating the execution of the Cyber Security Programme of a group of Westinghouse Nuclear Plants, being part of the Process Digital Systems Department. After that, she had the chance to explore the business side of the energy industry within the multinational energy company Naturgy, were she assessed the economic and technical viability of several investments in customized energy projects. In her time at Naturgy she was also involved in several corporate innovation projects, defining new business models, and in the development of the Innovation Corporate Culture Programme.

Since 2010 she has collaborated with several NGOs in social and environmental projects. The most recent collaboration is with “EBAFOSA Ghana-UNEP”.

Her background is in Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering with a Postgraduate in Leadership and Social Innovation by ESADE Business School.
