August 2019 Newsletter Introduction:

This month we are delighted to publish the results of nearly two years of work in which we have engaged with networks, academics, industry representatives and consultancies to consider the question of what capabilities and research are needed in order to create a digital built Britain. I would encourage you to engage initially with the summary of the Capabilities Framework and Research Agenda for a Digital Built Britain. An accompanying longer report demonstrates the depth of thought and careful consideration that has been drawn together from a wide range of disciplines and UK institutions to consider the capabilities and research needed to build a shared vision of a future Britain. It broadly considers the capabilities needed that we don't already have, what research might be required to underpin these capabilities, and what research already exists that could be useful. We hope you enjoy reading what I hope will be an invaluable document providing a long-term vision towards a future where information is used to deliver a built environment that performs for all. I'd like to extend a personal thank you to the CDBB team involved, along with the vast number of collaborators involved in producing this substantial piece of work.

We are pleased this week to join with UK BIM Alliance and BSI to publish a guidance document in support of information management according to BS EN ISO 19650. Guidance Part 2: Processes for Project Delivery is an interactive document which we hope will help individuals and organisation understand the details of building information modelling according to the standard. As ever, we are thankful for all the work of those who have contributed to this publication.

You will see below that the planning for CDBB week is well under way, with a full week of both in-person and virtual events. CDBB Week is developing into what will be a fantastic week celebrating the various elements of CDBB's work. I understand places at the events are booking fast, so I encourage you to book soon if you would like to join us!

I hope you enjoy reading this edition of the newsletter, and that you have a great summer whatever your plans are.
