Centre for Digital Built Britain completed its five-year mission and closed its doors at the end of September 2022

This website remains as a legacy of the achievements of our five-year foundational journey towards a digital built Britain

The Housing Digital Built Britain Network focused its attention on residential housing. It brought together academics, practitioners, policy makers and government to facilitate dialogue and determine the key areas of inquiry. Working with these partners, it outlined the priority issues for investigation, mapping them onto the CDBB framework and developing position papers which form the key areas of focus for our research. Our aim was to scope out a research programme to meet the needs of the UK in delivering affordable, sustainable and inclusive housing in a digital built Britain.

Outcomes

The network found the following priority research areas: using digital innovations to meet the housing and care challenges of an ageing population; developing digital innovation and better use of data in the planning system; digitising housing production through off-site housing manufacture; and improving housing governance, maintenance and management through use of data and digital technologies. They also identified ten cross-cutting research challenges around topics such as security, integration and human barriers.
