Centre for Digital Built Britain completed its five-year mission and closed its doors at the end of September 2022

This website remains as a legacy of the achievements of our five-year foundational journey towards a digital built Britain

The built environment shapes many aspects of our lives, from housing and travel to green spaces, healthcare and education. Our research programme aimed to be a catalyst for change by building effective relationships between industry and the academic community, enabling the results of innovative research to become part of professional practice, harnessing value and informing the development of a digital built Britain that allows people and nature to flourish.

Themes

A Multidisciplinary Approach

To understand how the buildings and infrastructure of the future can deliver better services and outcomes for people, we needed to take a multidisciplinary approach. We needed engineers and architects to work with economists, linguists, social scientists, neuroscientists, psychologists, mathematicians and computer scientists – among others – to understand how data and technology can help us make better decisions. Our programme blended interdisciplinary expertise with sustainability- and security-minded approach to help transform the built environment.

Within these pages you will find the projects, people and publications that made up our research programme.
