Centre for Digital Built Britain completed its five-year mission and closed its doors at the end of September 2022

This website remains as a legacy of the achievements of our five-year foundational journey towards a digital built Britain

A cross-sector leadership community is beginning a new chapter in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), working to stimulate change and drive digital innovation across the built environment sector.

Established by the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB) as a partner in the Construction Innovation Hub in January 2020, the Buildings Client Group (BCG) is an independent member’s group for leaders, directors and decision makers from across the property sector engaged in digital transformation.

From this month [April 2022] the group will be hosted by CIOB, where it will continue to support group members to focus on creating step-change within their own organisations and across the sector.

The group’s objectives are to:

  • Improve the design and delivery of new buildings, and support effective management of them over their operational lifecycle through the implementation of emerging digital practices
  • Increase digital maturity of member organisations through transparent benchmarking and insight sharing
  • Learn from others by sharing case studies and best practice to provide real world examples of successful digital transformation

Eddie Tuttle, Director of Policy, Research and Public Affairs for CIOB, said: “We are pleased to support the Buildings Client Group on the next steps of its journey. It has already done a great deal to advance the agenda of digital adoption in construction, which is one important element of the wider work to drive up standards in the industry and improve the quality and safety of the built environment, for its creators and its users. We look forward to helping the group realise its potential, continuing to drive the digital transformation of the sector.”

Neil Pennell, Chair of the Buildings Client Group and Head of Design Innovation and Property Solutions at Landsec, said: “The BCG has grown and developed over our time at CDBB and become a lively and engaging community of individuals who are passionate about the digitisation of the sector and leading digital adoption within their organisation.

“With our membership comprising both public and private sector clients representing a wide range of building types from across the UK, we provide a unique and secure forum for discussion; demonstrating good practice and sharing real-world case studies to inform and lead the way. We are always ready to welcome new members who are keen to proactively contribute towards us achieving our collective goals. Please do get in touch if you’d like to know more.
