May 2019 Newsletter Introduction:

Here at CDBB we have been delighted with the feedback so far from the recently published DFTG Roadmap. It is a big challenge to determine the route by which an information management framework should take, and it it great to see feedback coming in to help us work towards this. It will be vital for establishing a national digital twin, and we are delighted to have Samuel Chorlton on board as chair of the steering group tasked with establishing the Digital Twin Hub.

I'm pleased to see the great collaboration between CDBB, BSI and the UK BIM Alliance has resulted in the published guidance for BS EN ISO 19650. This will be an invaluable document to guide those seeking to understand the underlying principles of BIM according to BS EN ISO 19650 Parts 1 and 2. My thanks to all those involved in developing this document, especially those who have contributed on a voluntary basis. Without their involvement it would have been difficult to provide this document and provide a consistent set of messaging around the standards.

Just before the Easter break, along with my CDBB colleagues, I was delighted to take part in the recent 'Construction Innovation Hub (CIH) Roadshow', which involved visits, presentations and discussions with staff in all three organisations - CDBB, BRE and MTC. It was great to see all the fantastic work already underway within the programme, and all three organisations were pleased to demonstrate their work so far, and enjoyed forming new linkages throughout the visits. It is great to work with such a dedicated group of people in such different organisations, all focused on achieving the goal of transforming infrastructure of the future. I look forward to continuing this work and seeing its outputs in due course.

As always, I hope you enjoy reading about our recent and upcoming activities. Please do get in touch with us if you would like any further information.
