Centre for Digital Built Britain completed its five-year mission and closed its doors at the end of September 2022

This website remains as a legacy of the achievements of our five-year foundational journey towards a digital built Britain

A range of CDBB projects and work was highlighted at Digital Construction Week which took place on 24 and 25 November at the ExCeL in London.  The two day event was a celebration of innovation in the built environment.

The Construction Innovation Hub was a headline partner for the event and sponsor of the main stage which opened with a presentation from  Fergus Harradence Deputy Director, Infrastructure & Construction at Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on the Government’s Construction Playbook and also featured presentations from Sam Stacey, the Transforming Construction Challenge Director Innovate UK and Nick Smallwood, Chief Executive Officer of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority on the Transforming Infrastructure Performance Roadmap to 2030

The event  featured  presentations and panel discussions, collaborations from expert speakers from CDBB and its Construction Innovation Hub partners BRE,and MTC on topics including Digital Twin Journeys which showcases a range of our research projects and presentations on our new Early Career Digital Capabilities Framework, as well as the Digital Innovation Imperative which reflects on the digital transformation of the UK’s built environment in the decade since the announcement of the government’s BIM mandate and a new paper focused on how Government Soft Landings and the golden thread can be applied in a local authority context.

The National Digital Twin programme stand at DCW was highlighting the Digital Twin Hub and the Climate Resilience Demonstrator (CReDo) with the short film ‘Tomorrow Today’, the interactive app, but the real value came from the conversations with other vendors and with people who attended the event. The enthusiasm for connected digital twins was evident and the CReDo message – that collaboration through connected digital twins is key to tackling climate change – was echoed through many of the presentations and stands.

CDBB International launched a new BIM Toolkit during Digital Construction Week support the adoption and implementation of BIM across the globe. The international BIM Toolkit has been created following collaborative work led by CDBB International, supporting the UK Government’s Prosperity funded Global Infrastructure Programme (GIP).
