July 2019 Newsletter Introduction:

This month the CDBB team have been developing further the plans for CDBB Week, and we are delighted to announce that National Digital Twin Day will take place on 9 September. We are organising in the event collaboration the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) and it is now open for booking. The day will be a fascinating opportunity to learn more about digital twins and the work of CDBB's Digital Framework Task Group (DFTG). I would encourage you to come along and find out more about how digital thinking can drive more value from data, maximise infrastructure performance and deliver better outcomes for society. Later in CDBB week we have our Summer Research Showcase, for which bookings are open and we now have the full programme available. This is a great chance to hear all about the research work that has been underway this year, and network with our researchers and collaborators.

CDBB's DFTG working groups have been making a great start towards delivering the required work to the relevant streams of the Roadmap. In addition, we have a number of tenders out at the moment to develop elements of the Roadmap, which I would encourage you to review if you would like to be more directly involved.

Last week it was great to see the Construction Innovation Hub supporting the MOBIE 2019 Student Design Challenge, and the ideas created by the young winners for designs for homes for the future were really impressive. I know the CDBB team were extremely impressed with the winning designs, and it will be fascinating to see the winning designs recreated at UK Construction Week in Birmingham this October.

Lastly, it has been amazing to see how the CDBB team has grown in the last year. This week this has required us to move to a new office space, the address for which is at the end of this email. We look forward to welcoming our visitors to our new space, and to our next phase of work in our new home. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy reading more about these activities and more in this month's newsletter. Please do get in touch with us if you would like any further information.
