Spring News Update - Introduction:

CDBB was founded to explore how digital ways of working and emerging practices and technologies could transform the way we design, build, operate and integrate the built environment. In these times of data-driven decision making, this vision for a digital built Britain – where new approaches and digital information are used to make choices that improve citizen quality of life has never felt more real.

Tomorrow CDBB, together with the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), will publish the Human Flourishing paper. The paper follows on from the Smart Infrastructure Paper and the Gemini Principles, in a series bringing together key voices in industry, academia and government to call for bold changes.

The central ideas are simple and radical: that the purpose of infrastructure is human flourishing, therefore infrastructure should be viewed and managed as a system of systems that serves people and the environment. The paper contains forewords from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Institution of Civil Engineering (ICE), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineering, and was developed by over 30 key experts and influencers.

The paper will have a digital launch at IET at 10am and be discussed at tomorrow’s ICE Strategy Session at midday. Both events are free to attend.

We remain committed to providing you with insights, resources and case studies to support digital ways of working, unlock economic growth and support resilience.

Stay safe, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
