Centre for Digital Built Britain completed its five-year mission and closed its doors at the end of September 2022

This website remains as a legacy of the achievements of our five-year foundational journey towards a digital built Britain

An interactive web-enabled toolkit which provides the requisite functionality for clients to dynamically generate their own personalised business case for investing in a digital twin.

The DT Hub launched on 31 March 2020 to enable digital twin developers to share learnings and guidance as part of the National Digital Twin programme. Based on a series of interviews and feedback received from DT Hub members, there is a need to develop template resources and examples to support organisations embarking on the Digital Twin journey; from building the business case to facilitate the Executive board buy-in to understanding how to take the first steps towards a digital twin. A number of clients are already seeking to develop business cases for connectable digital twins which work with the Information Management Framework (IMF) and would benefit from a wide view of possible benefits and the means to capture them. This toolkit should emphasise the benefits of developing a digital twin which is connectable with other digital twins through adoption of the IMF.

The National Digital Twin programme (NDTp) launched the Gemini programme in September 2020 to undertake work for the NDTp on a voluntary basis. In September 2020, a toolkit team formed on a voluntary basis to take the work of the toolkit forward. This Gemini project is due to deliver a report on the early stage findings of the toolkit team in early February to coincide with the publication of a report on the business case for digital twins by TechUK. The purpose of this tender is to take the DT toolkit report, develop it and turn it into an interactive toolkit for members of the DT Hub to use to create a personalised business case for digital twins.

It is envisaged that the toolkit should be developed to a high-quality web-enabled interactive toolkit by the end of March 2021 and different versions of the toolkit could evolve thereafter dependent on funding and resources available.
