Centre for Digital Built Britain

This project considers stakeholder engagement in Smart Cities and Digital Infrastructure Projects.

Digital transformation of the built environment is likely to have profound implications for the lived experiences and opportunities of different stakeholders, including individuals, communities, interest groups, local authorities, universities, businesses and other users of the built environment. Good engagement with stakeholders will help a digital infrastructure project deliver outcomes with values aligned to those of its public users. This is about more than just obtaining the support of local stakeholders, and the effort needed can be quite significant.

This research analyses the role of stakeholder engagement in the development of a Digital Built Britain. It will produce national guidance to set out broad principles for carrying out stakeholder engagement for digital infrastructure projects. A stakeholder engagement plan will be produced to serve as a guide for stakeholder engagement activities for the Digital Twin Research Facility (DTRF) being set up at the West Cambridge site.
