Centre for Digital Built Britain

This project aims to define the barriers and opportunities for adopting BIM in the UK housing sector, and to highlight the potential benefits of BIM to this sector.

Outcomes

The study shows that the potential benefits from the adoption of BIM have been recognised within the industry, but that take up has been slow and prohibited by several factors.

Method

Literature review

Interviews

Expert workshop

Next steps

The report recommends that specific guidance about the use of BIM, tailored to the industry, may increase awareness, as would BIM-specific training embedded within engineering and related education.
