Centre for Digital Built Britain completed its five-year mission and closed its doors at the end of September 2022

This website remains as a legacy of the achievements of our five-year foundational journey towards a digital built Britain

CDBB’s International team helps to grow the global digital construction market, facilitating  trade across national borders. We work with  governments and policy makers overseas to support the adoption of a national BIM strategy and to promote the adoption of  a standards-based approach to BIM using International and UK developed best practices, standards and tools.

CDBB International work stream works overseas to:

  • work with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for International Trade (DIT) engage with and build buy-in with foreign governments;
  • build capacity of governments and public clients through training and support;
  • promote the adoption of ISO 19650,  the information management standard, using building information modelling.

Within the UK we work to encourage the UK construction supply chain to identify and respond to new export opportunities.

The CDBB International programme has developed training materials to support its implementation of a National BIM strategy. It is designed to support governments overseas in the planning and introduction of BIM to the public estate; it enables them to continue the training after we have returned home.  They are also able to share it with remote teams and others who could not attend the in-person training sessions.

This open online course is aimed at public policy-makers and public clients that procure, own or operate built assets, and provides learning materials on standards-based, public sector-led Building Information Modelling (BIM) implementation which will support public officials through their BIM transformation.
