On 29 January 2019 The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Peru signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of the United Kingdom to the improvement and development of Infrastructure investments in the country.

The MOU, signed by the MEF and the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), was to solidify ongoing “Collaboration on Information Modelling for Construction”. The Memorandum is intended to share and exchange experiences between the Centre for Digital Built Britain for the adoption and use of the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Peruvian Government’s investment processes. The knowledge and methodologies used in the United Kingdom will be shared to design, evaluate, budget and deliver infrastructure projects on time, with high quality and at a reasonable cost.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, María Antonieta Alva, stressed that Peru hopes to continue with this coordinated and bilateral work to capitalize on the best international practices in infrastructure, such as UK BIM, to contribute to the development of the country. "There is a sense of urgency for closing infrastructure gaps, and therefore, we want to replicate successful experiences that allow citizens to develop and improve living conditions," she said.
